Amber has a strong commitment to continuous knowledge and skill building for our staff. Our clients don’t pay for professional development or training for Amber employees. Our staff members are cross trained and assist one another during those inevitable ‘crunch times’ that all associations experience.
Kimberly Korbel has served the American Wire Producers Association (AWPA) since 1984 when she began her career in association management. In 1991, she was promoted to Executive Director, by an overwhelming majority of the Board of Directors, in response to her dedication to the industry and the association programs. After years of working at other association management firms, including Smith Bucklin and Associates, Kimberly ventured out on her own.
In 1999, Ms. Korbel opened Amber Association Partners, LLC, with AWPA as one of its inaugural clients. Kimberly has served over 15 associations in her career. The breadth of knowledge she has gained from serving a diverse group of associations gives her clients an experienced professional who has much to offer any industry or profession. Her experience ranges from transitioning volunteer-run professional societies into the AMC environment to managing large tradeshows with international participation. She is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, and serves on the Boards of Directors of the Council of Manufacturing Associations of the National Association of Manufacturers, Generation Hope, and the Washington Metro Chapter of the Executive Women’s Golf Association.
Ms. Korbel is a transplanted Minnesotan who resides in Alexandria, VA with four generations of family close by. She is a mediocre but enthusiastic golfer; and is a passionate fan of the Washington Mystics, the WNBA and the Washington Wizards.

Director of Meetings & Membership
Heather Outhuse joined the Amber team in 2008. She is currently the Meetings & Membership Coordinator, providing support for three of Amber’s clients. Heather has quickly become the go-to person in the office for association management software and website issues, and enjoys supporting meeting planning for events both small and large.
Heather is a member of the American Society of Association Executives. She lives in Springfield, and loves to spend her weekends camping and fishing with her dog Pepper.

Mary Korbel has been the Office Manager for Amber Association Partners, LLC since the company opened in 1999. Mary’s expertise in book keeping, database management and customer relations has proved invaluable to Amber. She has worked with all Amber clients on various projects, including data collection for data surveys. Mary also takes care of Amber’s day-to-day operations and keeps office morale high with fresh flowers for our desks and beautiful decorations for all holidays.
Semi-retired, after years of homemaking and nursing, Mary forged a new career as Amber’s Office Manager. She resides in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia where she’d rather be gardening. She continues to be a doting mother and grandmother and is eagerly awaiting the birth of her first great-grandchild.
